GORE, QUEBEC

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

The title for the series, ‘Gore, Quebec’, takes its name from a township that exists outside the city of Montreal in a rural setting. The project was inspired by Kerr’s Farm, a turn-of-the-century farmhouse that was later converted into a hotel and then a therapeutic retreat. The unchanged setting and interior of the house evoke a strong sense of a past.
This series of images explores Kerr’s Farm; a semi-fictitious portrait that focuses on its isolation in a rustic, wintry locale. The images depict some of the residents, their rooms and their belongings within this setting. I tried to draw on certain existing visual elements of the surroundings to create a kind of enclosed world that blurs the real and the imagined.
