ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Portraits de dos proposes to revisit the traditional portrait, offering a view of both disconcerting and strangely familiar. This series of photographs reminds us of our experiences in daily life: people who are with the back to us in a queue, or someone walking on the sidewalk ahead of us. The lack of a face creates an initial anonymity, but the secondary elements such as posture and hair provide us with clues of the subject's character.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Myriam Gaumond is an emerging photographer in Montreal, and describes her work as "photographer / observer".

Her œuvre focuses as much on the quiet reflection of the individual as on the hustle and bustle of public life. Her photographic observations evoke an intimacy with the subject and a simple, delicate poetry.
